How Meetings Work

Two Kinds of Rooms

In our regular meetings, we honestly name what is happening. Being heard helps us heal. Listening broadens our understanding and builds connection. Our quarterly workshops develop the knowledge needed to create change and improve systems. Each meeting is independent, so you will not fall behind if you miss one.

every other wednesday - 8 pm ET - 1 hour - zoom

Sharing & Listening Meetings

A room where you can say what is really happening out loud, and hear other people say it too. You come to be heard, not fixed. First meeting Wednesday, October 14.

The Agenda

  1. Welcome and ground rules: Read aloud at the start of every meeting: anonymity, confidentiality, no cross-talk, no recording.

  2. The topic: Each meeting has a current topic, chosen by Rebecca or recommended by members, and named at the top. It frames the sharing. It never turns into a lecture.

  3. Open sharing: Up to 3 minutes each, first come, first served. Speak about your own experience. Nobody responds, advises, or fixes. You can pass, or just listen.

  4. Close: We end on time, together.

  5. The parking lot(optional): 30 minutes after, for anyone who wants to stay. Open discussion, questions, responses, and connection are welcome here.

What We Talk About

Topics will cover social, political, and economic issues. Below is just a sampling.

You don't need to be an expert to join the meetings, and I'm not here as one. The topic gives us a place to start. What we bring is our own experience and an open mind to listen and learn.

  • Artificial intelligence

  • Burnout, layoffs, and restructures

  • Affordability and the cost of living

  • Healthcare costs

  • Racism, sexism, and other isms in everyday life

  • Cuts to public services and what they cost

Four Times a Year - 90 Minutes - Zoom

Quarterly Workshops

Deeper sessions on the skills for change, like systems thinking, community building, and how to take action where you are. Here, we welcome responses and idea-sharing. This is where we move from naming what is happening to building the knowledge and capacity to change it. Anonymity, confidentiality, and no recording stay intact.

The Ideas

The frameworks and history behind the topic, taught plainly, with sources you can go read yourself.

Shared values. Anti-racist, feminist, class-conscious.

Anonymous. Real name or alias, camera on or off, your call. The expectation is that no one shares who is part of this.

Confidential. What is said in meetings stays there. No recordings or AI transcription allowed.

No corporate interests or sponsors. Nobody is paying to shape what gets said.

No recruiting or selling. Members are not prospects, resources, or consumers in this space.

Review the community membership terms.
